JC’s little hand.  I just adore this picture, the little dimples in his knuckles, the bottle in the background, the fuzz in his fingernails.  Its hard to catch those baby hands sitting still.  I know it won’t be long before they change so I try to catch the little things in photos now before I can’t remember.

This was the photo from my Project 365 yesterday.  We woke up to frost on every tree and every surface.  Not the kind that you have to scrape, the kind that is light and delicate.  I put my boots on over my bare feet and grabbed my coat and camera.  I wanted to snap a few pictures before it was gone.  As I walked through shin-deep snow the frost was already falling from the trees.  It looked as if it was snowing.  Really beautiful.  I’m glad I was able to catch a few shots!

I have to admit it.  I secretly enjoyed when the baby was sick.  I didn’t like that he was feeling bad, that part I could leave.  But I really liked the part where I got to snuggle with him all day.  He never lets me do that.

OK, OK, she’s fine.  This was just a drill.  She was not actually choking while I stood by and took pictures.  Piper chokes often on food despite my best efforts to keep the really difficult things off her plate.  I mean, Oreo cookies for crying out loud, should not be in the choking category.  It’s really just part of her cerebral palsy, the chewing/swallowing issues.  But sometimes I think she’s just in a hurry to do something else.

See…fine.  Cookie-faced, but fine.

After the snow melted last week, we’ve had tons of rain.  Bad for the farmers.  They still have crops in the field that they can’t harvest. Yucky weather all around.  Today we saw a peek of the sun.  I’m hoping for dry leaves and a few warm days before the snow reappears.  I took the little kids out to enjoy it before we went to get the big kids from school.

I love that my kids get along.  Well, most of the time.  I hear them playing upstairs and I stop at the door to listen in.  Often I can’t figure out what they are playing, but they seem to know exactly what is happening next in the story line.  They each have their own dynamic with the other, and they each play with one another at different times in different ways.  They also know just how to push each other’s buttons.  They know what sets the other one off and find just the right moment for that little jab.  But like I said, most of the time they get along just fine. They play nice and are fairly gentle with the younger ones.

So after I got the pictures (last Thursday) I thought I had my fix of kids’ pictures, but when I was out shooting another family I decided to get a couple more.  ONE PROBLEM.  I forgot to change one little setting on my camera and waaaay over exposed all my kids’ shots.  Fortunately not the other family’s pictures.  Normally I look in between shots and see that what I have is good, but with my kids I just wanted to hurry up and catch them before they quit cooperating.  I couldn’t salvage the color, but now they just look like stylized B&W shots.  Not so bad I guess, but I’m a little disappointed I didn’t get better.  Once again, they’re still pretty neat. (And for those participating in Angie’s “Fall” theme, the color would have been great for fall since I just took these Sunday.  Use your imaginations!!)

It’s Homecoming at our alma mater.  I plan on taking the kids to the homecoming parade (to see the band) and then a big “feed” (to hear the band).  Then we’ll take our sugared out kids home.  No tickets for the game, besides I wouldn’t take the kids just yet, they’re a little too restless.  They all recognize the team logo and can yell “Go Bison!” My husband and I met as part of the marching band.  Yes, we’re band geeks!!

The big kids got to ride the Lions float in our hometown parade.  The route goes right past our house!  Our neighbor just happens to be the guy in charge of the parade float, so they were IN!  They got to throw candy and were promised the leftovers, but they ran out even before the hit the end of the route.  Not to fear Piper (with Grandma’s help) caught plenty for all!!!

And for your viewing enjoyment, Grandma taking a picture of Grandpa with her camera phone.  After she called me with it to ask how to work the camera (again).  I love old people and technology! I’m sure that’s exactly what my kids will be saying of me someday!!!

JC has decided he can walk this week.  He takes a good 5-6 steps before falling on his bum.  He also thinks he can steal my clothespins when I turn my back.  Pardon the saggy diaper… I love these diapes but the wings keep drooping out on the sides.  Ah, well, they still function. I’ve ordered a sample FuzziBunz, so we’ll see how I like them!
