A Thousand Words Thursday - sorting old photos

Cheaper Than Therapy

Thousand Word Thursday. All those photos worth a thousand words...or more! See the selections of the week at Cheaper Than Therapy!

I finally took my new external hard drive and went to the OLD computer to take all the photos off of it and store them somewhere safe. That computer is on it's last leg and I fear any day will be the one when it no longer functions. The kids and I stayed up late looking through the old stuff. Mostly at the videos and photos while dad was overseas and when PM was teeny tiny.

Baby Piper

This is PM three days old. Even then that little hand was always in a fist. As we looked at all the old videos, I wondered how we didn't see it earlier. There was definately something amiss. I suppose with all that was going on at the time (daddy away, new house, new baby, 3 kids, work) we just never had the time to really see. Well, I guess what can you do? We roll....

Turns out JC learned how to crawl this week. Want to know how I discovered this fun little nugget of information?? Go ahead, take a few guesses... I'll let you know at the end of the day! Of course I took pictures. Don't worry, this was shortly after (already smiling) and it looks a lot worse than it was. It has already cleared up. By the way, please feel free to hand over that Mom of the Year award any time!!

So what did he do, you ask? He left the toy room, crawled through the landing and tumbled down a full set of (carpeted, thank God) stairs. All in the time it took me to bring some laundry down to my bedroom. I heard the screaming and ran back to the steps just in time to see him take one more head over heels tumble and land in a sitting position at the bottom! I think I scratched his cheek trying to make a grab for him. Poor little guy! He was just following mom! I didn't put him down the rest of the day!!

Weekend Fun

I had an awesome little getaway weekend at my BFF's. If you follow me on Twitter, I mentioned that I survived all 6 kids for most of a day. My BFF went to an auction of a closed school. She, being a school teacher, hoped to pick up some good stuff for her class room. I stayed with her two and my four while she was gone and her hubby had to work.
I kept them inside for some of the morning, the bugs outside were CRAZY! We watched some cartoons, colored and had a snack.

It was just too nice to be indoors long and we all went outside. The little kids were on the swings, the big kids fought over a Power Wheels Jeep. I was too busy with the little guys to get a shot of the fight/share/fight/share going on behind me, but I tried to referee as much as I could from across the yard.

The mark of any good day in my book is how fast we can get the kids to bed. BFF & her hubby and I got all 6 bathed and to bed by 8:30 so we could make smoothies and watch a movie. It was an awesome weekend!!

in the yard

~~~~~~~ And for the WORDFUL part~~~~~~~
I love this shot of JC just hanging all by himself in the yard. I feel like I'm sneaking through the bushes to see him... He likes to sit on the blanket and chill while I hang out laundry. He's usually so clingy that I can't set him down long enough to do dishes. Outside I think he has enough to hold his attention that I don't have to sling him on my hip the whole time. I am also loving that its finally nice enough to put laundry out on the line again!! I have a few cloth diapers I am testing out, so I expect to see those on the line a lot this summer. Who knew I'd be pumped about diapers?? I'll give the full report after I have a good trial with them, and I'm ready to buy!
I Heart Faces - Silhouettes
I keep forgetting to post entries for I Heart Faces, so this week I'm getting it up on time. The theme is silhouettes, and I have this one from a wedding I did earlier this year.
First Weekend of "Summer"
School here is officially done. We had the best day on Sunday. After church, we started up the grill and Daddy made us Asian Barbeque Pork, Ranch Burgers, and Italian marinated chicken. He also made a cold cucumber salad. YUM! We hung out in the yard all afternoon. The kids played, JC parked himself on a blanket and we tried to keep him from eating the grass. I took my laptop outside and played music for us. The adults had adult beverages, the kids had kid beverages. We ate food as it came off the grill, never really assembling inside, just stealing from a kabob as it was cooling. The sun was out, the wind was relatively still. It was fantastic. I also took my 10,000th picture with my little Canon Rebel. Can you imagine?? Anyway, here it is....
Happy Memorial Day. Thank you veterans, including my husband, who keep this country safe. I found these photos of my hubby in Afghanistan. Thought you'd be interested...
