Tackle It Tuesday–Dining Room Chairs

I don’t even like to ask people to sit at the table when I see the condition of our dining chairs.  It’s inevitable, I suppose, that with four kids these chairs with light colored fabric will get dirty.  Armed with a bowl and a brush, I am ready to fix that.  I started with some nice warm water and Mr. Clean.  (I would have used Oxyclean for sure, I ♥ that stuff, but alas, I was out.)  I used a large stiff brush for the main areas, and the smaller brush for little spots that needed a bit more work.

As soon as I scrubbed an area, I’d press a dry towel down to soak up excess water while I worked on another area.  Here is the “before”…

And after a good scrub…

THAT is SO much better.  I won’t feel embarrassed to have dinner guests sit on the chairs!!  Do you have a project to tackle?  Head over to 5 Minutes for Mom, where Tuesdays make your housework bloggable!

That looks great! We have four kids as well and before our Sunday dinner guests come over, one of the things I always have to do is wipe down the chairs. Or if I have a meeting here at home that day. Thankfully our chairs are vinyl-covered at this point, so it's a quick job but I do love fabric chairs. I just didn't think it was "possible" with four kids. You have shown me otherwise! Very nice!

Visiting from 5MFM. I totally understand the need for this tackle. Great job! I thankfully don't have fabric covered chairs anymore. I have 3 boys and still wipe down chairs frequently though. I see we are both Household6 gals. Nice to meet another military spouse online.

Fabulous tackle! I gave up on upholstered dining chairs a few years back. I covered them in black pleather. They've held up well under my 3 kids, and the best part is they wipe clean! :o)

Visiting from 5MfM. Thanks for sharing! Happy Tuesday! :)

Nice job! My answer for my boys is wood chairs (and floors...lol). I'll let you blog about cleaning my house...you would have plenty to blog about all year! ;)
