Wordful Wednesday - Seeing King Tut

Wordful Wednesday is hosted by Angie at Seven Clown Circus.  Go have some fun!!!

Aria is our future archaeologist, so when ads started popping up for a King Tut exhibit, we took notice.  The display was just two and a half hours away from us, so we decided to take a day trip down there to see it.  Who knows when something this cool will be nearby again!

We had to stand near the gift shop for our turn to be escorted in.  Fortunately there were plenty of neat toys to entertain the kids while we waited.

Aria was really excited to see the artifacts.  I gave her a camera and told her to take pictures of whatever she wanted.  She took tons!

Max thought the mummy itself was pretty cool.  He loved pointing things out to Aria that he thought she’d like.  They were also as interested in a hole in the wall.  Actually I was thrilled with the architecture of the building just as much as the exhibit.  It was an old opera house they are in the process of restoring.  I thought the old brick and bare floors leant itself well to the Egyptian display.

It was a pretty cool trip.  It sparked Aria’s love for all things Egyptian once again.  Oh, and when we were done, guess where we went to eat!?

It's great that she's taken an interest in history at such a young age. Hopefully it will continue through the years. I loooove museum visits. And that last photo - priceless!

Is this in San Francisco? Because I think the King Tut is in San Fran right now. Its great that you expose your kids to these things.

Where is this exhibit? I'm going to need to learn about all this stuff this year, since I am moving to 6th grade and it's in their curriculum. I would love to go!
